So, I saw this PRADA Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag online the other day, and I just thought, “Damn, that’s a nice bag.” But, you know, it’s PRADA, so it’s crazy expensive. Then it hit me, “Why not try to make one myself?” I mean, I’m no pro, but I like to think I’m pretty handy.

First things first, I went to the official PRADA online store to get a good look at the bag. I studied it, took a bunch of screenshots, and really tried to understand how it was put together. It’s a classic design, you know, that Saffiano leather, the whole nine yards. Looks simple enough, but I knew it was going to be a challenge.

I started gathering materials. Finding the right leather was a pain, let me tell you. I went to so many stores, trying to find something that looked and felt like the real deal. Eventually, I found a decent piece that wouldn’t totally break the bank. I also needed some hardware, like the logo, zippers, and buckles. Those were a bit easier to find online, but still, it took some digging.

  • Got the leather.
  • Found the hardware.
  • Printed out some templates based on the pictures I had.

Then came the actual crafting part. Cutting the leather was nerve-wracking. One wrong move and the whole thing could be ruined. I used the templates I’d printed, traced them onto the leather, and very carefully cut out each piece. Sewing it all together was another beast. I borrowed a sewing machine from a friend—thank goodness for good friends, right?—and started stitching. It was slow going, and I definitely messed up a few times. Had to rip out seams and start over more than I’d like to admit.

The lining was a bit easier, but still tricky. I wanted it to look nice inside, not just outside. I picked a soft fabric that felt luxurious. After many late nights and a lot of trial and error, I finally had something that resembled the PRADA bag. It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty proud of it. It had that structured look, the right size, and even felt pretty good to carry around.

The Result

So there you have it. My homemade version of the PRADA Galleria bag. It’s not exactly like the real thing, but it’s close enough for me. Plus, it cost way less, and I learned a ton in the process. It just goes to show, sometimes you gotta take matters into your own hands, right?

Would I do it again? Maybe. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it in the end. I’ve got a unique bag that I made myself, and that’s pretty cool if you ask me.
