Okay, so, I wanted to remake this YSL June Box Bag. I’ve been eyeing this bag for a while now. I mean, who doesn’t love a good designer bag, right? Especially the one with the cool Cassandre logo thing and the quilted design. But let’s be real, the price tag? Ouch.

First, I did some digging online to understand what I was getting myself into. Turns out, this bag is a big deal. It’s made by Saint Laurent, a fancy French brand that’s been around since the 60s. They’re all about luxury, using the best materials like real leather and silk. No wonder it’s so expensive!

I checked out a bunch of stores online, like Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, and even Macy’s, to see if I could snag a deal. I mean, who doesn’t love a good sale? The Outnet had some YSL stuff for like 45% off, which was tempting, but not quite what I was looking for.

Start to Make

  • Gathering Supplies: I hit up some local craft stores and found some decent faux leather, a chain that looked pretty close to the original, and some quilting supplies. I’m no expert, but I figured I could make it work.
  • Pattern Making: This was tricky. I couldn’t find a pattern for this exact bag, so I had to get creative. I used some old cardboard boxes to draft a pattern, using pictures of the bag as a reference. It took a few tries, but I finally got something that looked about right.
  • Cutting and Sewing: I carefully cut out the faux leather according to my pattern. Then came the sewing. My sewing machine has seen better days, but it managed. The quilting was the hardest part. It’s not perfect, but I think it adds a bit of a “homemade” charm, you know?
  • Adding the Details: I found a similar-looking logo online, printed it on some sturdy paper, and glued it on. For the chain, I just attached it to the sides of the bag. It’s not as fancy as the real deal, but it does the job.

After all that, I finally had my own “YSL” June Box Bag. It’s not an exact replica, and it definitely doesn’t have that luxury feel, but I’m pretty proud of it. It cost me way less than the original, and I had fun making it. Plus, I learned a thing or two about sewing!

So, that’s my little DIY adventure. It was a bit of a challenge, but totally worth it. Now I have a cute new bag to show off, and I didn’t have to break the bank to get it. Who knows, maybe I’ll try tackling another designer piece in the future. Any suggestions?
